Gibt es zwar mittlerweile auch umsonst, aber wenn man es nachts probiert, kommt ein Hinweis, etwa so: "At the moment there is no sun at your location. Maybe you should go to bed". Well done, Vlad. Das war mir die 80 Cent schon wert!

So.... you move the compas around till the N points to the proper north... super..
Well thought out and built. Fun, Useful and Educational app. Cant wait till the update! :-)
Neat. To clarify earlier review. You point the sun or moon arrow towards the real thing. The phone geocalculates your position and based on that position it can tell you the direction north. Works well.
I think this a handy tool. Good job.
Some problems with second triangalisaton and connecton lost on learger zoom in on satelite mode (on gm)
As we consider the fast pace of scientific and technological progress in our modern world, we now have an iPhone compass that genuinely works in time (pun) of need.
This app works really well. I like the presentation too, its pretty polished. Id say its worth a buck.
Simple but great app. Very nice interface, an excellent compass. It doesnt work well when its very cloudy :))
Well I got this because it looked really fun and it was cheap. But for some reason it keeps telling me north is in the pacific ocean.
This should be a free application. It is not a compass and I find it pretty much useless.
This is an attractive application that does what it claims to do. (Well, Ive only tested it against the sun, but Im assuming that it works as well against the moon.) I would not be willing to pay a great deal for something like this, but I think it is well worth the modest $1 price. It seems well-done and who knows - maybe it actually will come in useful sometime, as I dont carry a compass with me nearly as often as I carry my phone.
Works kind of like a reverse sundial to find N. The app plots the position of the sun during the day as seen in the screenshot. Then with iPod screenside up you touch the compass dial to move sun icon to match the sun in the sky and youve got directions. Or you can just turn the whole iPod like I did at first! This also works with the moon but I think the sun provides slightly more accurate readings, maybe because its farther away, slower? This also seems to work without Internet access as long as you have your general location already input either manually or through auto-locate or you can enter latitude/longitude to find your location without Internet access. So be sure to take care of that before leaving for the wilderness. This is a really well executed app that helps ease the pain of the lack of GPS. In fact this will work even without a GPS signal or internet to get you headed in the right direction. It works and looks far better than any cheapo magnetic compass you could buy, never mind at $.99! I havent seen anything else quite like it in the store, at any price. Vlad sounds guilty for charging even this much, but its Apples minimum, and hey it makes the price literally a song. Even a cheapskate like me is happy to support this kind of effort. Thanks!
Program works as stated. To the reviewers that complained that it doesnt work at night or indoors-its a SUN compass. Get a clue!!!
Yes, there is another free version but this is smooth and well worth the money. Just like a watch, you can buy one out of a quarter machine or spend 60 Gs for Crafted work. U babies complaining ... please post your work so we can see your superior Developer writing skills. 5 STAR !!! Good Work.
It is beautiful and does exactly what it says. Complainers do not understand what a SUN compass is. It even works with the moon! Perfect.
Works exactly as expected. Nice how it works day or night.
I have absolutely no use for a compass, but I love the gimmick. This one, unlike the one by a different developer, works at night. As an added bonus, you can rotate the screen rather than the whole iPhone! An excellent-quality gimmick. (I guess it might be useful for some people, too.) Happy Obama term!
Keep politics out of the iTunes store. If you look at the popular vote almost 50% of people voted for McCain.
This is a fun app to play with, but it is not very accurate. I experienced several occasions where its readings were off by as much as 80 degrees. A fun toy but not practical and not worth $.99.
